Sevilla - Deportivo Alaves

Match date: 06/11-21:00

Sevilla FC

Reality starts knocking on the door

Back to the Sanchez-Pizjuan for a Sevilla side that already knows what it is to suffer its first defeat against a team whose budget is not three times smaller. The Andalusians arrive after losing to Getafe in a game that was not short of controversy and ended with a comeback from the blue-and-whites. It is a result that marks the first setback of this kind for a side that had started the season by inviting people to dream.

This time, the team to beat will be Alaves, led by an old acquaintance in Quique Sanchez Flores. The Sevilla players arrive in a slightly more uncertain run of form than that exciting start to the campaign, and what better stage to clear up the doubts than in front of a crowd that still believes in them. On the football side, a very similar starting XI to recent weeks is expected, with the question of whether Kochorashvili will start or whether LGP will force the law of the ex by bringing in Guridi, as well as the apparent absence of Isaac Romero, who faces a very difficult race to be fit in time.

This shapes up as a very interesting match between two teams that have already shown they know how to do things very well and who have two coaches hardened in countless battles, with experience and more than enough ability to set up a game of real quality.

Deportivo Alavés

A humiliating defeat in Barcelona, where the coach made changes with the cup and Friday's match against Sevilla in mind. With the Copa not being played because of the sad death of CD Tenerife player Jesus De Miguel, the AFE had even asked for this round to be postponed, but it seems football will carry on until next week's international break. The Babazorros must try to pick up points in Sevilla, as they have gone from being in a comfortable position at the start of the season to finding themselves 2 points above the relegation places after a run of 7 matches without a win. Indeed, the Albiazules have not lost on their last three league visits to the Pizjuan, so there is at least some hope of taking something from the game.

Quique only has the known long-term absentees, so we believe he will return to the opening-day line-up, with some chance of a 4-4-2 with Yusi coming in. There are doubts in the attacking midfield role and over the partner for Boye, with two old acquaintances of the Sevilla fans in the Babazorros ranks: Denis Suarez and Mariano. As it is the first match, we will know the line-ups but we would not back many visiting players in your XI given the form of both teams.
