Barcelona asks about Milan striker

The Blaugrana club has contacted the camp of Christopher Nkunku, who is looking for a way out of AC Milan after being left out of the first team.

The situation at San Siro opens up an opportunity for Barça. Nkunku is part of the group of players that the Milan has sent to the so-called “loft”, a measure linked to the Italian club's need to cut costs after missing out on the Champions League.

The Frenchman had already asked to leave before being left out. His priority is to find a loan that allows him to regain a starring role and reignite a career that lost momentum during his time in Italy. Barcelona is looking at that possibility, in a scenario also shaped by the potential departure of Ferran Torres to PSG.

Nkunku played 32 matches last season and scored seven goals. His versatility is one of the main arguments that could interest Barça: he can play as a striker, operate behind the forward, or start from a wide position.

His best version came at RB Leipzig. Between 2019 and 2023 he registered 70 goals and 56 assists and then made the move to Chelsea, where injuries stalled much of his progress. Now he is looking for a destination that will allow him to regain consistency and confidence.

Other clubs interested

The Leipzig side appears as a possible route back, while the Borussia Dortmund are also keeping a close eye on his situation. Barcelona, meanwhile, has already taken the first step by contacting his camp.

The main problem is his salary, because Nkunku has one of the highest wages at Milan and any deal will require finding a formula that works financially for the Barça. A loan with the wage split could be one of the options to study.

The departure of Ferran Torres could change Barcelona's attacking needs and the name of Nkunku now appears among the alternatives the club is weighing.
