The race for Rodri already has a clear first economic gap between clubs. Barcelona has tabled a verbal proposal of 60 million euros with add-ons, while Manchester City continues to set its position at 80 million.

The gap between the two figures now shapes a negotiation in which the payment structure can carry as much weight as the initial amount. According to Fabrizio Romano, the new Blaugrana offer has already been passed on to the English club, although for now it does not reach the valuation they have in Manchester.

The Barcelona side believes talks can keep moving forward. The 20 million euro difference between what the Blaugrana club has proposed and what the City are asking for leaves open the possibility of working on an intermediate formula.

The add-ons are the key point of the deal

In the negotiation, the add-ons appear as one of the elements with the most room to help bridge the gap. The fixed starting figure would not be the only relevant factor, since payments linked to the player's performance and targets could raise the final cost of the operation.

Meanwhile, Manchester City maintains its financial demands to assess a possible exit for Rodri. The English club is still waiting for Barcelona's proposal to move closer to the 80 million euros it considers necessary to allow the Spanish international to leave.
