José Bordalás did not hide his concern after the

Getafe CF

The 4-0 rout against Athletic has left Getafe badly shaken and, above all, has hit its coach hard. After the match, Bordalás spoke to DAZN and admitted that the Madrid side is going through a delicate spell, shaped by defensive errors and a lack of cutting edge.

One of the aspects that worries the manager most is how easily his players are allowing chances. Three of the goals they conceded came from set-piece situations, something he considers unacceptable for a team that has traditionally been known for its defensive strength.

The coach also addressed the harsh comments made by David Soria, who described the team as anti-competitive. Bordalás respected the goalkeeper and captain's view, acknowledging that the situation calls for a deep review of what is happening.

Regarding the sending off of Mario Martín, he avoided getting drawn into controversy and made it clear that a red card cannot be used to justify such a heavy defeat.

Bordalás acknowledges Getafe's fragility and calls for an immediate response

The manager stressed that the team has lost some of the traits that have always defined his sides, especially defensive solidarity and the ability to compete with conviction.

“The evidence is there: we lack a lot of consistency. My teams have always been solid and very strong, and we are going through a moment of a lot of fragility”, he explained.

He also acknowledged the unease that exists inside the dressing room. Both the coaching staff and the players are aware of the image that was shown and of the need to correct the mistakes before the next fixture.

“We have to move on quickly, think about the next match, change and correct these errors that are costing us goals and defeats. My opinion and what we think and what we feel is that we have hit rock bottom and we have to change quickly”, he said.

Asked about Luis Milla and Arambarri, two key players for the team, Bordalás preferred not to dwell on the absences. He recalled that other players have also left and that now he must work with the available squad to recover the competitiveness and solidity that has been lost.

His biggest concern remains in defence. The coach pointed directly to a lack of concentration and responsibility in set-piece situations, a scenario that contrasts with the reliability that has usually characterized his teams.

“My teams have stood out for being very reliable defensively and that is not what is happening. We have, in some way, hit rock bottom and we have to turn this situation around”, he concluded.
