Real Madrid C.F.

The goalkeeper's situation has changed over the past few hours. As The Athletic has reported in advance, Courtois still hopes to take part in the match against Barcelona, scheduled for this Sunday at 9:00 p.m., despite the medical statement released by the white club this morning.

Journalist Mario Cortegana said the Belgian international is optimistic about his chances of playing. A piece of information that opens the door again to his presence in a game for which he had initially been ruled out.

The goalkeeper was not part of the Real Madrid party that landed at around 12:30 p.m. at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport. However, his absence from the initial trip does not necessarily mean that the match is lost.

According to information published by Mundo Deportivo, Courtois is willing to do everything possible to be available. His physical condition will be assessed over the next few hours and, if he shows enough improvement, he could travel to Barcelona this very afternoon.

The team coached by José Mourinho remains focused in the Catalan city while the situation of one of its most important players is resolved. The decision will depend on how the flu-like illness affecting the goalkeeper develops.

In the meantime, Real Madrid has taken precautions regarding the presence of Illia Voloshyn, Real Madrid C goalkeeper, who did travel with the rest of the squad and is already at the concentration hotel.

Courtois's participation still has not been officially confirmed. The Belgian will try to recover until the last moment to be able to defend Real Madrid's goal against Barcelona, although everything will depend on how he evolves in the hours leading up to the match.
