Gavi earns his place to start and Gerard Martín clears up the doubts before Racing

The FC Barcelona has completed this Tuesday its final training session before facing Racing de Santander, in a match that will be played this Wednesday at 21:30 at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The session left two names especially interesting for Hansi Flick's lineup: Gavi and Gerard Martín.

One of the images from training was the conversation that Hansi Flick held with Gavi before starting work with the rest of his teammates.

The midfielder has had less of a starring role than expected at the start of this season. He was in the starting XI on the opening matchday against Elche, but a knock to his knee halted his continuity and, since then, his minutes have been fairly limited.

Flick was later asked about that conversation and acknowledged the importance of keeping the player switched on. The coach recalled that Gavi is ambitious and wants to play, although he also pointed out that the team's good performance and the strong competition mean managing minutes over a very long season.

All of this, along with Barcelona's tight schedule, means Gavi is gaining options to return to the starting XI against Racing. The Blaugrana will have only a few days to rest before visiting Sevilla, so several rotations are expected.

For fantasy managers, then, it will be especially important to keep a close eye on: Gavi is one of the players who could benefit from those lineup changes.

There is also good news Gerard Martín.

The defender had to leave the match against Levante after taking a heavy blow to the face, an incident that raised doubts about his physical condition ahead of the midweek round of fixtures.

However, Gerard has been able to train normally with the rest of the group, so, unless there is a last-minute setback, he will be available for Flick against Racing.

His presence further increases the coach's options in defense, and it would also not be out of the question that he could get minutes, given the rotations that could be made.

Barça face an especially demanding week and everything points to Flick using the match against Racing to hand out minutes among a squad with plenty of competition.

Gavi appears as one of the main candidates to benefit from those changes, while Gerard Martín has put the discomfort caused by the knock suffered against Levante behind him and is back in condition to compete.
