A new injury affects Malaga

Málaga CF has confirmed today, following the medical tests carried out, that Aarón Ochoa is suffering an injury to the outer meniscus of his right knee. The midfielder, who was already set to miss the league debut against Atlético due to suspension, now sees his return to training become more complicated.

Funes himself had downplayed the issue just a few days earlier: "Ochoa is doing partial training and will train tomorrow. He has a knock. We have tried to bring down the swelling. If he were not suspended, Ochoa could play in the Metropolitano", the coach explained after the Trofeo Costa del Sol match against Fulham. However, after the monitoring carried out by the club's medical staff, it has ended up being a more serious injury than expected.

Ochoa played his last pre-season match against Al-Arabi and, since then, has not been called up either for Ceuta or for Fulham in the Costa del Sol trophy. At first, the situation did not cause too much concern within the medical team, as the midfielder was serving a suspension after receiving a double yellow card in the match against Almería, meaning his absence for the Metropolitano opener was already guaranteed regardless of any injury and gave him enough time to recover in the next round against Deportivo de A Coruña.

However, the return to training announced by Funes did not end up happening, as Aarón Ochoa continued to feel pain in the following days and was unable to rejoin the rest of the group, forcing the club to carry out new medical tests.
