The Milan Public Prosecutor's Office has informed Alessandro Bastoni of his status as an investigated party in a case involving a alleged crime of procuring minors for prostitution. The Inter defender appears in a broader investigation into a supposed network dedicated to organizing parties and nightlife leisure services for VIP clients.

The name of Alessandro Bastoni already appears in formal terms in the inquiries led by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office into a suspected organization linked to the exploitation of minors and private events at leisure venues. According to Italian media reports this Tuesday, the centre-back would be the first footballer being investigated in this case.

The information published by the newspaper La Republica claims that the player would have had a meeting with a young woman who was 17 years old when the events under investigation took place. The case, however, remains open and has not been clarified, as the young woman herself, questioned as a witness, would have denied that any relationship existed between the two.

In the investigation documents, there would be indications pointing to a possible meeting, which is why the Prosecutor's Office has informed the defender of his procedural status. The notification received this Tuesday is a formal step to officially tell him that he is being investigated and to guarantee his right to a defence during the course of the proceedings.

The case comes at a time when Bastoni had also been linked by the newspaper AS to a possible operation within the orbit of the Real Madrid, although the investigation opened in Italy concerns a completely different judicial sphere.

The investigation into the Ma.De agency

The proceedings have as their focus “Ma.De”, a supposed escort agency based in Cinisello Balsamo, in the province of Milan. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the organization would have prepared “all-inclusive” parties for VIP clients, including mainly footballers, with dinners, nightclubs and stays in hotels.

As part of the same operation, the Guardia di Finanza has called Daniel Maldini, Riccardo Calafiori and Kevin Bonifazi to testify as witnesses. So far, none of those three footballers is being investigated.

The investigation seeks to identify those responsible for the network, the people who organized the events, the individuals in charge of recruiting the young women, and also the drivers. The procedure already resulted in four arrests last April. According to the information published, at those exclusive parties, the alleged supply of laughing gas would also have been facilitated.
