Jagoba Arrasate takes shape as Iñigo Pérez's replacement in Vallecas

The chapter that opens in Vallecas will come with a seasoned coach with a long track record in professional football. As reported by the newspaper As, with the name previously advanced by Matteo Moretto, the Rayo Vallecano has sealed the signing of Jagoba Arrasate to take over the role left vacant by Iñigo Pérez after his move to Villarreal CF.

Arrasate had been without a bench since his departure from the RCD Mallorca. The Berriatua coach did not bet on an experience outside Spain and preferred to wait until the end of the season to start a project from the beginning in the top flight. For now, no specific details have emerged about the length of the contract or the financial terms of the deal.

A long career before arriving at Rayo

The new Rayo boss has built up considerable experience between LaLiga's top two divisions. Since making his debut with the Real Sociedad in the 2013/14 season, he has managed 473 professional matches.

After being sacked by the Real Sociedad with ten games left in the 2014/15 campaign, Arrasate took charge of the CD Numancia, where he stayed for three seasons with positive results. Later, in the 2018/19 season, he signed for CA Osasuna in Segunda División, secured promotion and established the rojillo side in LaLiga EA Sports.

His time at Osasuna ended after six years and 257 matches in charge of the Navarrese club. In the summer of 2025, he joined Mallorca, where he achieved a solid stay in LaLiga EA Sports, although he was dismissed in February of his second season with the Balearic side, leaving the bermellones in a difficult league position.
