Rafa Obrador is back on the move in the market after regaining prominence in Italy. The Roma have him among their options to strengthen the left-back position ahead of competing in next season's Champions League.

The defender's growth at Torino has changed the picture. After arriving on loan in January from Benfica, Obrador has found in Serie A the space he did not have in Portugal, and his performances have caught the attention of clubs with higher competitive demands.

Last summer, the Real Madrid agreed with Benfica to sell the 50% of the player's rights, a formula the Whites have used on several exits of players developed in their academy. With this model, the club retains room for control: it can trigger a buy-back or receive half of a future sale if the player increases his market value.

Roma enters the picture

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are looking at Obrador's name to bolster their left flank. The Italian side will be back in the Champions League and is searching for solutions for a position where the Benfica player fits as a market option.

In any case, the deal would involve several steps. First, there would need to be an economic agreement between Roma and Benfica. After that, the Real Madrid would have to approve the move and decide whether to use the buy-back clause it still holds over the full-back.

Obrador's value also plays in favor of that expectation. He arrived with a valuation close to the 2 million euros and, after his spell at Torino, he has practically tripled that figure. If a sale is ultimately agreed, the Whites would receive the 50% of the transfer, money that would come in a summer in which Madrid is preparing a major investment in signings.
