Levante arrives at the final stretch with a new problem in their forward line. Iván Romero will not be available on Friday and joins a list of absences that had already hit the team.

The club's medical report confirmed a muscle injury in the left posterior tibial of the forward, which will at least prevent him from playing on Friday (9:00 p.m.) against Osasuna at the Ciutat de València. The attacker underwent tests after being unable to finish the match against Villarreal CF, from which he withdrew at halftime due to discomfort.

In the statement, the club added that the progress will determine when he can rejoin training with the group.

Luis Castro runs out of options in attack

The scenario complicates the coach’s plans even more, as he loses two offensive pieces at a decisive stage. Levante is left up front only with Carlos Espí and Etta Eyong, in addition to the wing alternatives of José Luis Morales, Roger Brugué, the Israeli Abed, Kareem Tunde, or Víctor García. Without Iván Romero and Carlos Álvarez, the team loses goal threat, mobility, and creativity.

In the case of Carlos Álvarez, his left ankle injury from last Saturday forces him to end a season marked by physical problems. He suffers a grade 2 injury to the anterior syndesmosis of the left ankle and the forecast is that he will be out of the team’s dynamics for about four weeks, meaning he will not return to play this season.

His campaign had already started with difficulties: he spent the summer recovering from a pubalgia that prevented him from completing preseason and delayed his presence in the starting eleven until the third matchday, at Martínez Valero in Elche. That match coincided with the last days of the market, when Levante and Benfica were negotiating a possible transfer that ultimately did not happen.

Between September and October, despite the pubalgia not having completely subsided, he contributed two goals and one assist. The first serious warning came on October 19, 2025 against Rayo Vallecano, when he retired with pain in his right ankle and, a week later, he could not start against Real Mallorca at Son Moix. After a crisis of form and results in November, his best version reappeared with the arrival of Luis Castro at Christmas, with a goal at the Pizjuán against Sevilla, before injuring himself again on February 27 in his right long adductor against Deportivo Alavés.

After missing four matches and being a substitute in two more, he returned to the starting eleven on Saturday at La Cerámica, but only lasted 30 minutes before twisting his left ankle. His contract situation also remains uncertain: it ends in June 2027 and renewal talks have been stalled for weeks.

In the standings, Levante is three points from safety and faces the last four matchdays with barely any margin: with 33 points, they need to add nine to reach 42, a number that has historically been enough to avoid relegation. This forces them to win three out of four, starting Friday against Osasuna.
