DFReal Sociedad have lost one of their most reliable defenders. Mamadou Sarr will not be available to face Rayo Vallecano after medical tests confirmed a muscle injury in the soleus of his left leg.
The centre-back had already set alarm bells ringing during Thursday's European match against Olympique Lyon. The discomfort appeared in the first half and Matarazzo decided to replace him at half-time. In the end, the issue has proved to be more than just a minor knock.
The injury will also prevent him from joining Senegal's national team during this international break. His availability for the next league fixture, against Racing de Santander, will depend on how he progresses. For now, the club has not set a recovery timeframe.

With him out, Zubeldia and Beitia emerge as the main options to fill his place in the heart of the defence. The coach will have to reshuffle a back line that loses one of its most important players.
