Rodri Hernández will miss the next match for Barça in LaLiga. The midfielder underwent medical tests after the discomfort that forced him to be replaced at half-time in the game against Aston Villa, and the club has confirmed an injury to the hamstring in his right leg.

The Blaugrana statement specifies that the player will be ruled out for Sunday’s match against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano. As for the recovery timeline, the club says it will depend on how the injury evolves, so there is no official deadline.

According to the information published, the absence could be around four weeks. If that scenario plays out, Rodri would not only miss the clash with Atlético before the international break, but his availability for Spain and several subsequent Barça fixtures would also be in doubt, including the league return against Villarreal and the European trip against Sabah.

A blow for Flick and for Fantasy

The absence is a major problem for Hansi Flick, who had used the midfielder heavily in this start to the season. Rodri has accumulated 945 minutes across 14 official matches and has started on eleven occasions, most of the time forming a midfield partnership with Pedri.

The only positive is that we are dealing with an international break, meaning he could miss 2 matchdays in the best-case scenario.
