The future of Alejandro Balde at FC Barcelona could be far from the Spotify Camp Nou. Despite having been one of the most promising players to come through the Blaugrana academy, the 23-year-old full-back is dealing with a difficult situation this season, and his future is starting to be seriously questioned.

As reported by the newspaper Sport, Barcelona has set a asking price of at least 40 million euros, a figure it considers reasonable given his youth, potential, and the interest left-backs generate in the European market.

The sporting directorate's intention would be to complete a permanent transfer during next January, although a loan with an obligation to buy would also not be ruled out. The aim would be to generate revenue to strengthen a squad that needs new additions, especially in defense.

Flick does not see Balde as a first-choice option

The full-back's sporting situation also does not help to think about his staying. Balde has gone from being a regular in the starting XI to playing a completely secondary role, with Joao Cancelo and the young Xavi Espart ahead of him in the rotation.

His substitute role against Deportivo Alavés was especially telling. Despite the many defensive absences, Flick again left him on the bench and only gave him minutes in the second half.

The German coach had already publicly said that the full-back needed to regain confidence and improve his adaptation to the team's demands. Comments that highlight the difficulties the player is facing in trying to recover his former level of prominence.

The Premier League is watching his situation

Despite his limited involvement, Balde continues to have a strong reputation in European football. Premier League clubs, especially Manchester United, have kept a close eye on his situation over the past few months.

The player resisted leaving Barcelona last summer, convinced he could win back his place. However, the lack of opportunities could make him change his mind.
