Athletic Club will have Oihan Sancet back for Sunday''s derby at San Mamés. The attacking midfielder, who had been carrying a problem in his calf, completed his first training session with the group this Wednesday. Despite his improvement, the coaching staff has decided not to take any risks with him in Thursday''s Copa del Rey match against Prat, which will be played on artificial turf.

Edin Terzic explained that the conditions of the playing surface mean caution is needed with the player. “Sancet has been for the first time this whole session, but he is not available on artificial turf, there is a risk. He will be available for Sunday, that''s good news”, the German coach said.

The situation of Ruiz de Galarreta is different. The midfielder started running this Wednesday, although he still needs time to complete his recovery. Terzic has set an optimistic target for his return for next week''s match against Osasuna.

Terzic prepares changes for the Copa and talks about Unai Simón

Before hosting the Real Sociedad, Athletic will have to get past their first Copa del Rey tie against Prat. Álex Padilla has options to take charge in goal, although Terzic has avoided confirming he will start and has said that several less regular players will get minutes from the start.

The coach stressed that his team will approach the tie with seriousness, without letting themselves be distracted by the derby. “We will have a very strong team tomorrow to show that we want to progress to the next round. We need to demonstrate solid, professional performance”, he said.

He also had words of praise for Unai Simón after the trophy received by the goalkeeper. Terzic highlighted his level and the daily work he does with Padilla, Santos and the goalkeeping coach Aitor Iru.

“Nothing will change because of this trophy, it''s now shown to everyone. Very happy because one of ours has reached the highest level”, the coach said. He believes internal competition is key to continuing to raise the performance of the Spain international.
