The RFEF has sanctioned FC Barcelona after a complaint from Atlético de Madrid over alleged contacts with Julián Álvarez. The FIFA, also requested by the Rojiblancos club, declared itself incompetent in the matter.

FC Barcelona

The FC Barcelona will have to pay a 602-euro fine after the Royal Spanish Football Federation has ruled on the case file opened following a complaint filed by the Atlético de Madrid.

The Rojiblancos club went to the relevant authorities after concluding that Barça had maintained contacts related to Julián Álvarez, a player under contract with Atlético until June 30, 2030.

According to the case file, the sanction is based on the article 133 of the federation regulations, relating to breaches of regulatory obligations considered minor. Atlético's position was that, before any approach to the player, Barcelona should have contacted the entity that owns his rights in writing.

Atlético also took the case to the FIFA, although the international body has declared itself incompetent to intervene in this procedure.

No immediate sporting impact

The ruling leaves the Barcelona with a reduced financial penalty and, based on the information available, does not entail any direct sporting consequence for Julián Álvarez or for Atlético de Madrid.

From a Fantasy perspective, the case does not change the forward's competitive situation for now: any assessment of his future remains in the realm of speculation until an official move between clubs takes place.
