Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is getting closer to his return to Deportivo. The Gabonese forward is already working on the pitch at Abegondo and has started running, an important step after undergoing surgery in Madrid for a knee injury.

The blue-and-white attacker suffered the setback in the last match before the first league break, against Betis. Medical tests confirmed the injury and the player had to undergo arthroscopy in Madrid. The initial recovery timeline was set at around eight weeks.

November, on the horizon

Aubameyang has already missed the matches against Real Sociedad and Levante. He also will not be ready in time to visit Atletico Madrid, play the Copa del Rey tie against Auriense, or face Osasuna at Riazor. Deportivo will take on Espanyol after that match, before a possible return for the forward.

The trip to Alaves, scheduled for November 21, looks like a reference point for his comeback, although it will still depend on how he progresses over the coming weeks. The player himself shared his update on social media with a clear message: "Back on the pitch".

The news is especially significant because of the impact Aubameyang had at the start of the season. He scored five goals and provided two assists in his first five matches with Deportivo. His absence has deprived Antonio Hidalgo of one of his main attacking options.

Zakaria and Casado also move forward

Aubameyang is not the only injured player who has returned to work on the pitch at Abegondo. Zakaria Eddahchouri has also started running, although his recovery is following a different pace. The forward injured himself in a training session, just a few days after the match against Betis, after taking a blow to his hand.

The coach, Antonio Hidalgo, had already warned that he still has several weeks to return. Zakaria, Deportivo's top scorer last season in Segunda División with 12 goals, had also opened his scoring account this campaign.

Marc Casado, meanwhile, continues his recovery after having surgery on his collarbone following the match against Betis. The midfielder has been able to do physical exercises without impacts or contact, but he is still not ready to return to training with the ball.

Aubameyang's return, good news for Fantasy

From a Fantasy perspective, the Gabonese player's gradual return encourages you to keep a close eye on his progress over the coming weeks. His numbers in the early matchdays showed his ability to add goals and assists, so his return could have a major impact on Deportivo's attack.

The most cautious approach is to wait until he completes new phases of training and gets closer to rejoining the group, but if you can get him in your league, even if there is a month to go, he is a TOP signing and a difference-maker, as long as he continues with the numbers he has shown in the first matches he played. November could bring back one of LaLiga's most decisive players.
