«Step by step I am getting back to my level and my physical level», the Frenchman explained, confirming that he has held talks with Mourinho about his role within the squad.
Mourinho asks for balance and more attacking presence
The midfielder revealed some of the instructions he receives from the Portuguese coach, especially given the number of attacking players Real Madrid have.
«He asked me for balance; it is important with all the attacking players we have. And for me to look forward with the ball, to score goals, but above all for balance», he said.
His comments show that Tchouaméni will continue to be an important piece in keeping the team going, although Mourinho also wants him to have a bigger role in building the game and in attacking arrivals.
Real Madrid need to improve with the ball
Tchouaméni acknowledged that the white side still has room for improvement, especially in how they function in attack.
«With the ball, we are sure we have not played at our best level since the start, but we work on it in training and we will surely improve», he said.
He also argued that it is not just about running more, but doing it in a smart way, downplaying the distance stats when they are analysed outside the context of the match.

«We are elite in some characteristics, but the most important thing is to work as a team in midfield», he said.
Confidence ahead of the trip to Roma
