Atlético de Madrid
The Atletico de Madrid returns to action in the Champions League with an enticing clash against the Manchester United. The Rojiblancos face the second matchday of the league phase after losing 2-1 to Liverpool on their debut, so they need a positive result to avoid complicating their European path from the start.
Diego Simeone's side will have the support of the Metropolitano against a rival arriving with mixed feelings. The English club began their continental campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Sabah, although their record in the Premier League has been more inconsistent.
Simeone weighs up changes to his lineup
One of the main uncertainties for Atletico lies in their attacking department. Julián Álvarez could return to the starting XI after leaving a good impression in his most recent league appearance, while Álex Baena and Kang-in Lee also have a chance of making the team.
In the initial projection, Giuliano Simeone and Lookman appear on the flanks, with Jonathan David and Baena as the more advanced references. However, the attacking competition leaves the door open to different combinations.
In defence, Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, Hancko and Grimaldo start with options to line up ahead of Oblak. Koke and Pablo Barrios are set to take up positions in midfield.
For their part, Manchester United arrive affected by several absences. Mainoo, Mazraoui, Ugarte and Dorgu are among the missing players, while De Ligt and Šeško remain physical doubts.
