Initial estimates put his recovery at around the two weeks, meaning he would be very tight for matchday 8. At the white club they have no intention of taking unnecessary risks with one of their most important players, especially given the demanding schedule that is coming up.
Just four days after Villarreal, the visit to the Roma in the Champions League will arrive, while on October 25 the Clásico against Barcelona is on the horizon.
For that reason, one of the options Real Madrid is considering is holding Mbappé back against Villarreal or giving him minutes only if he is fully recovered, pushing his return to the European match on October 14.
