Koski suffers a muscle injury and is set for a spell on the sidelines against Atlético
Bad news for the Deportivo Alavés during the international break. Ville Koski has suffered a muscle injury in his right quadriceps while on international duty with Finland and will return to Vitoria-Gasteiz ahead of schedule to be assessed by the medical staff at the Basque club.

DFThe club confirmed the setback this Sunday via a medical report, although for the time being it has not set a specific recovery timeframe. Koski will be assessed on his arrival, and it will be his progress that determines how long he will have to stay away from the pitch.
Koski faces a very tough task to make matchday 8
The injury comes at a delicate time for Alavés, as the Finnish international had established himself as one of the regulars in defence. Koski has started the first seven matchdays of LaLiga, accumulating 620 minutes and also scoring a goal.
The defender played the full 90 minutes for Finland against Belarus, but afterwards he was left out of the squad for the match against Albania due to these physical problems.
Although it will be necessary to wait for the results of the new tests, the first reports suggest that he could be sidelined for several weeks. If that is confirmed, his involvement in the next league fixture would be practically impossible.
Alavés will return to action on the Saturday, 10 October, against Atlético de Madrid at Mendizorroza, a match in which Koski now has very slim chances of being available.

DFHis absence will force the coaching staff to look for an alternative in central defence. Nicolás Valentini is emerging as one of the players who could benefit from this situation and gain more prominence on matchday 8.
