PTCelta is keeping a close eye on Ionuț Radu during the international break due to his physical situation. The Romanian goalkeeper had already played through discomfort in his right shoulder in his national team matches against Sweden and Bosnia, but the issue became more significant after he did not take part in training this Wednesday.
Radu then went on to have a magnetic resonance scan in Bucharest. Reports from Romania indicate that the tests found injuries in the tendons in the area, although the exact extent of the problem and the time he will need to recover still have to be determined.
Given this situation, Celta would have asked the Romanian Football Federation for the goalkeeper not to continue working with his national team until a final diagnosis is available.
Gică Hagi confirmed that Radu is suffering from shoulder discomfort and indicated a change in goal for this Friday's match against Poland. Otto Hindrich will be in charge of Romania's goal, while the player from the Vigo side will initially be on the bench.
Radu's status for LaLiga's return
The state of the Romanian international is taking on special importance in Vigo because of the role he is playing in the team's strong defensive start. The coaching staff will continue to monitor his progress over the coming days before finding out whether he will be fit to return with Celta.
Celta's next league match is set for October 11 against Elche at the Martínez Valero. Radu's availability for that game will depend on both how the discomfort develops and the final diagnosis of his injury in his right shoulder.
