Casado goes under the knife: Deportivo lose the midfielder for three months

The injury suffered by Marc Casadó against Betis already has a diagnosis and has required surgery. The midfielder has a fractured collarbone in his right shoulder and will be out for approximately three months, a period that could see his return pushed back to the first matches of 2027.

Casadó was operated on this Monday by the orthopaedic trauma specialist Rafael Arriaza. From now on, it will be his recovery that determines the definitive date of his return to the pitch, with the possibility of making a comeback in the final weeks of 2026 if his progress allows the timeline to be shortened.

The incident occurred in the first half of the match against Betis. In the 32nd minute, the player contested a ball with Marc Roca and suffered a bad fall that prevented him from continuing.

Casadó himself immediately sensed that it could be something serious. «I have broken it», he repeated to the medical staff of the Coruña side when he went over to the touchline to receive treatment. Shortly afterwards, Diego Villares took his place on the pitch.

The first words of Antonio Hidalgo after the match already reflected concern. «It does not look good. They have to run tests, but it does not look very good», the coach said before the final diagnosis was known.

The setback comes very early in the Spanish international's spell at Deportivo. Casadó arrived on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season in the closing stages of the transfer window, alongside Atletico Madrid centre-back José María Giménez. Against Betis, he had barely played his second start as a blanquiazul.

The schedule now enters a break that will last until the weekend of 10 and 11 October. Deportivo will return to LaLiga on Sunday 11, visiting Real Sociedad on matchday eight, without Casadó, who begins his recovery after the operation.
