Two candidates to replace Corberán at Valencia

According to Deportes COPE Valencia, the first names topping Braulio's shortlist are Ernesto Valverde and Jagoba Arrasate. Two coaches with a long track record in Spanish football, although their respective situations present different challenges.

Valverde would be one of the priority candidates. The manager is currently without a club after completing his third spell at Athletic Club at the end of last season. He also knows Valencia well, having coached them during the 2012/13 campaign, with Braulio in charge of the sporting directorship. His appointment, however, is not expected to be a straightforward negotiation.

The other standout option is Jagoba Arrasate, who is currently available after ending his time at Mallorca in February. His candidacy has an important factor: the close professional relationship he maintains with Braulio after overlapping for six seasons at Osasuna, a period in which the Navarrese club found stability in La Liga, reached a Copa del Rey final and returned to European competitions.

While Valencia studies the different possibilities, Óscar Sánchez, coach of the B team, will take charge of the first team on a temporary basis. The club does not want to rush into a key decision as it looks to respond after a very poor start to the season, with only one point from the first five matchdays.

Braulio therefore faces his first major decision since returning to Mestalla. Valverde and Arrasate are starting out as the best-positioned options, but talks are still at an early stage and it is not ruled out that new candidates could emerge.
