Real Betis is very close to closing the signing of Troy Parrott, the striker chosen to strengthen the squad. Talks with AZ Alkmaar have advanced considerably and the deal would be practically on track. A move that seemed complicated due to the club's financial constraints, but one that has found a formula that makes the arrival of the Irish forward viable.

Real Betis Balompié

As we already reported last week, Troy Parrott was one of the forwards that appealed most to the upper echelon of the verdiblanco side and was part of Manu Fajardo's shortlist to reinforce the attack. Despite the rumors linking Betis with Fabio Silva, Denkey, Dovbyk and other candidates, many of their economic demands were out of reach for the club. Everything points, therefore, to the Irish forward, who also has the approval of Manuel Pellegrini, ultimately being the one chosen to take up the verdiblanco '9' role.

Troy Parrott, the chosen '9'

The need to bring in a striker was clear after the departures of Bakambu and Chimy Ávila. Betis was looking for an attacker with goals, the ability to compete for a starting spot, and room to grow, and Parrott meets all of those requirements. The Irishman comes after signing an outstanding season with AZ, with 31 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches, making him one of the most productive forwards in the Eredivisie.

A deal worth around 17 million

The deal will finally come in at around 17 million euros, a significant figure for Betis's coffers, but one the club considers manageable thanks to the formula it has found to handle the signing. One of the keys has been the money brought in by Betis after Mendy's departure from Rayo Vallecano, which has created room to take on the addition of Parrott.

In addition, the operation benefits from the possibility of amortizing both the transfer fee and his contract over five seasons. In this way, the club's annual financial impact is much more manageable and allows the arrival of the forward (and the other signings the club wants to make) to fit within the entity's financial limits.

What can he bring to Fantasy?

From a Fantasy perspective, Parrott is a signing that deserves a lot of attention. His goal numbers from last season and the investment made by Betis suggest that he will arrive to play a leading role. If he manages to secure a starting spot, his finishing ability and the attacking output he can generate with Pellegrini's team make him a forward with the potential to make a difference.

That said, his initial price and his adaptation to LaLiga will need to be monitored. If his market value is reasonable, he could be one of Betis's most interesting Fantasy bets.
