Real Betis kick off this Friday a season that is especially exciting, with the goal of returning to compete in the top part of LaLiga and approaching their return to the Champions League with guarantees. The debut will not be easy, as they host a Real Sociedad side that starts out as one of their direct rivals in the race for European spots. Pellegrini wants to start the campaign with good feelings and, to do so, he will have to clear up several question marks that still exist in his starting XI.

Precisely, the possible absence of Isco opens up one of the big question marks in the verdiblanco midfield. Pellegrini will have to decide who will join Fornals in the middle of the park, with Nelson Deossa, Marc Roca and Facundo Bernal as the main candidates. All three have had a role to play during pre-season, although Bernal has left good impressions and Deossa has been one of the coach's most eye-catching bets, even playing in more advanced positions.

Elsewhere in the squad, Bellerin is another doubt after finishing the last friendly with niggles, so Angel Ortiz could get an opportunity at right-back. Up front, Antony and Cucho look set to be among the key pieces, while Riquelme is gaining options on the left in the absence of Abde, who continues recovering from his injury.

The Real Sociedad side face their first LaLiga match with a demanding trip to Benito Villamarín to take on the Real Betis. The men of Pellegrino Matarazzo will be looking to pick up their first points of the season in one of the most difficult stadiums in the competition.

The txuri-urdin team continues to be pending strengthening the squad with new signings before the transfer window closes. In the meantime, Matarazzo will have to keep working with the available personnel and find the best formula for the team to keep growing at the start of the season.

As for the starting XI, you will need to pay attention to the coach's decisions and possible changes. Players such as Oskarsson, Beitia and Turri have a chance of being in the starting lineup. Real will look to take a step forward and return home with a positive result.
