Míchel’s team must first secure their stay if they do not want to suffer like last season. Once the objective is accomplished, they will be able to look a little higher up in the standings. 

Complicated match for the Catalan team, as they face none other than the third-placed team in the league. The yellow team (groguet) is having a very good season, and everything suggests they will repeat their presence in next season’s Champions League. Many remember the fateful first leg, where Míchel’s team lost by a heavy 5-0. We have already seen that Girona at home is another team, capable of much tougher things; taking this factor into account and the fact that they will want to avenge the heavy loss from the first half of the season, Villarreal will have to play a good match if they want to take all three points from Montilivi. 

Regarding the starting eleven, we have the uncertainty about Echeverri, and some rotation that might happen after the international break. The captain Stuani returns to the team, and we will see if we can see him for a few minutes on the field. The rest will be as expected.

After their victory in the last round of LaLiga against Real Sociedad at La Cerámica, Villarreal returns from the international break aiming to maintain the third place they currently hold, taking advantage of the fact that their direct rival, Atlético de Madrid, has other commitments that could distract them from the fight.
