The summer looks to be quite busy at Real Betis Balompié. With the possible departure of Ez Abde on the table after a season that has positioned him as one of the club’s biggest selling opportunities, Heliópolis is already working on potential replacements and reinforcements for a squad that will face the enormous challenge of competing in the Champions League 2026/27.

And there are two names being closely watched by the verdiblanco sporting management: Jan Virgili and Samu Costa.

According to various media outlets from Seville, the young winger Jan Virgili, currently at Mallorca, has been offered to Betis and is quite liked within the club. The footballer, just 19 years old and developed in Barcelona’s youth academy, has a contract until 2030 and a future many consider very promising.

That said, his situation is quite complex. Mallorca owns 60% of his rights after paying four million for him, but Barça retains a buy-back option for 18 million. The Catalan side is closely monitoring his development.

Betis is following him live

Members of Betis's technical secretariat have been watching several Mallorca matches live in recent weeks. Among them, the visit to Montilivi against Girona and the match at Son Moix versus Villarreal.

And not only for Jan Virgili.

Betis also have the name of Samu Costa noted in red, the Portuguese midfielder who could soon be called up to Portugal’s senior national team under Roberto Martínez.

In Heliópolis, they see him as a very serious alternative should Sergi Altimira end up leaving this summer, with clubs like Leipzig and Sporting CP keeping an eye on his situation.

Mallorca’s Relegation Could Change Everything

Right now, talking about numbers seems complicated. Mainly because Mallorca is fighting for survival this Saturday.

The team coached by Martín Demichelis faces a dramatic final matchday against Oviedo, already relegated, although not depending on themselves to remain in the First Division.

If Mallorca ultimately gets relegated, the scenario would change completely. The Balearic club would have to sell and that could significantly reduce the costs of deals for key players like Virgili or Samu Costa.

Betis is watching closely. Because they know there will be market opportunities this summer… and also important decisions if Abde packs his bags.
