At his 36 years, César Azpilicueta is going through a season marked by physical problems. Against Rayo Vallecano he started, but could not finish the game: at minute 58 he left the pitch after feeling discomfort. It is his fifth injury of the season, a blow that, besides affecting his availability for the next matches, also impacts his contractual situation.

The defender's continuity is tied to the matches and minutes he can accumulate with Sevilla. The agreement includes a signed one-year contract and a second optional season subject to objectives: he needs to play at least 25 games to activate the automatic renewal. So far he has 14, also including the match against Rayo Vallecano, and at the moment it is unknown how long he will be out.

His last injury occurred at the end of January; little more than a month later, he is sidelined again. Then, a muscle tear kept him out for five matches and now we will have to wait to know the extent of this new ailment, which also seems to be muscular in nature.
