Villarreal faces the final three matchdays of the league with a single objective: to definitively secure third place, which they currently hold with a six-point lead over their closest pursuer, Atlético Madrid. The first step will be to earn three points this Wednesday at La Cerámica, where they will host a Sevilla that breathed fresh air with their win in the last matchday but still needs points to ensure survival.

In terms of absences, Marcelino will continue to be without the long-term injured Foyth and Pau Cabanes, while the rest of the squad should, in principle, be available for the match.

Finally, the Yellow Submarine starting eleven is expected to be very different from the one seen in Mallorca, with new rotations across all lines. In goal, there are doubts between continuing with Arnau Tenas or giving Luiz Junior a chance to reappear. In defense, Freeman and Pedraza could return to the full-back positions, while Pau Navarro would step into the center of defense replacing Rafa Marín or Renato Veiga. In midfield, Pape Gueye and Parejo could displace Thomas and Comesaña, while Moleiro and Pépé would return to the wings instead of Alfon and Buchanan. Finally, in attack, Gerard Moreno and Mikautadze would form the forward pairing again, ahead of Ayoze and Oluwaseyi.

Sevilla visits Villarreal intending to get points in order to try to bring survival within reach, survival that seems it could be at 42 points.
Moreover, they have one of the toughest schedules of all the teams in the relegation zone.

The lineup could see changes due to the accumulation of matches as this matchday is midweek. We might see starters among Sow, Akor, Alexis, Oso, Juanlu, or Azpilicueta. 
This humble contributor believes that Odysseas, Carmona, Castrín, Kike, Gudelj, Agoume, Vargas, and Maupay should be in the starting lineup.

The confirmed absences are Marcao and Manu Bueno due to injury.
