Villarreal host Getafe at La Ceramica after an especially difficult week for Iñigo Perez's side. The defeat to Espanyol halted the improvement the team had shown with wins over Valencia and Manacor, while the heavy thrashing at the hands of PSG in the Champions League has left the Yellow Submarine's image badly dented, and they need to respond as soon as possible to avoid slipping further away from the European places. Standing in their way is a Getafe side that beat Sevilla last time out, but which has still failed to pick up a point away from home this season.

In terms of absentees, Iñigo Perez will be without the injured Ilias Akhomach, Diatta, Juan Foyth and Gerard Moreno, who picked up another injury against Espanyol. The good news is the return of Pape Gueye after serving his suspension, while Nathan Saliba is also available again after his fitness issues.

As for the starting XI, the demanding schedule of recent weeks and the need to rediscover their rhythm could lead the groguet coach to make a few changes. Gulacsi looks set to continue in goal, while Freeman, Pau Navarro, Renato Veiga and Sergi Cardona would make up the defence, with Mouriño and Carlos Romero also in contention at full-back. In midfield, Comesana and Pape Gueye are the favourites, with Saliba and Carlos Macia as alternatives. Further forward, Moleiro, Buchanan and Pepé have strong chances of starting, while Mikautadze looks set to lead the line in Gerard Moreno's absence, although Ayoze Perez cannot be ruled out.

Getafe CF

Getafe travel to Villarreal in what will be a clash between two teams in need of licking their wounds. The week of continental football has been a tough one for both the Madrid side and the Castellon outfit, and the league could be the balm they need.

Bordalas is facing a difficult season, with limited resources and plenty of competitions to juggle. The line-up he names this weekend will be shaped by an injury and by the fatigue that comes with playing on Thursdays.

The absence of Zaid Romero is doing plenty of damage to the blue-and-white back line. The rest of the squad will be available to the coaching staff, apart from the long-term injured players. Carvajal should return at right-back and Boselli, after starting in the Conference could be given a rest. In midfield, Terrats is certain to start, with the doubt between Mangala and Mario Martin, although both will get minutes during the match. Up front, we are backing Unal and Satriano.
