The Uberlândia-Mamoré Under-20 match ended with 51 dismissals, a full-scale brawl, damage to the stadium, and the Military Police trying to restore order

There are matches that heat up, the usual flashpoints, others that get out of hand, after the flashpoint there was a small scuffle with two wild swings, a shove, and then there is what happened in Brazil. The clash between Uberlândia and Mamoré, a semifinal of the Campeonato de Segunda Divisão Sub-20 de Minas Gerais, ended with 51 red cards, a massive brawl and the intervention of the Military Police. The referee was short on pockets to store so many cards.

The football spectacle lasted until the 54th minute. Everything blew up after Mamoré's 1-3. According to the Brazilian outlet 'O Tempo', Davi Fernandes Bittencourt celebrated the goal with provocative gestures toward the opposing bench. What came next was anything but a sporting celebration.

Players and members of the coaching staffs from both teams began trading insults and acts of aggression. The fight kept growing until it involved practically everyone. The ball boys could not stay out of such a spectacle.

51 dismissals: almost nobody got away with it

The referee ended up handing out 51 red cards: 43 to players and 8 to members of the coaching staffs. A real downpour of dismissals that forced the match to be suspended with more than half an hour still to play.

The figure tops the previous record of 36 dismissals in a match played in Argentina in 2011. Brazil already has a new world record and, judging by what happened, it seems unlikely that anyone will want to beat such a mark.

The stadium also came out worse

Things did not end when the referee blew the final whistle. Estadio Parque do Sabiá suffered major damage and its administrator had to request the intervention of the Military Police from Minas Gerais.

The damage inventory is no small thing either: about 14 doors smashed, washrooms, taps, showers, toilets, cupboards, wooden benches and electrical wiring. Several stretchers and two hydromassage tubs were also left damaged.

The positive note

According to radio macuto, the only ones who left the stadium without a red card were: the refereeing team itself, a man who was walking along the side of the pitch taking his dog out, and a woman who watched the match from a window in a nearby building. :).

We leave you a video of the incident.
