Diego Pablo Simeone acknowledged that Ademola Lookman has dropped his level compared to his first weeks at Atletico, although he still has full confidence in his qualities.

«Lookman may not be in that best moment that he gave us when he arrived, but we have a huge amount of trust in him», he explained.

The coach expects the forward to get back to his best version and to have a bigger role again.

Simeone highlighted the attitude of Morten Hjulmand, although he made it clear that he must keep working to earn a place.

«Morten has a lot of personality; we need his best version», he said.

The Dane is competing for minutes with Koke, Pablo Barrios, Johnny Cardoso, Rodrigo Mendoza and Obed Vargas, which keeps the fight for a starting spot open.

The coach also spoke about Arnau Ortiz, who is still taking steps in his adaptation to Atletico.

«He is young; the jump from where he was to where he is now is not easy. He has teammates ahead of him who are competing to play», he pointed out.

Therefore, Arnau will have to keep waiting for opportunities, while continuing to work to earn more of a role.

Simeone keeps the door open to rotations

The coach stressed the importance of managing efforts and making the most of the performance of the entire squad during a demanding season.

He did not preview specific changes to the starting XI, but he made it clear that decisions will depend on each player's current form and the team's needs.
