The Villarreal face another physical setback in their squad at a delicate point in the calendar. Gerard Moreno, who had been enjoying a season with more continuity, could not finish Friday's match against his former club and had to hand his place to Nicolas Pépé in the 17th minute.

The attacker went down on the pitch after feeling some muscle discomfort and requested a substitution. A worrying situation for a player who has suffered numerous physical problems in recent campaigns and who seemed to have regained consistency.

In fact, Gerard Moreno had only missed two matches this season, both due to a technical decision. Until this Friday, injuries had not affected his participation as they had in previous seasons.

Now it will be necessary to know the results of the medical tests to determine the extent of the discomfort and to check whether he will be available for the next matches for the yellow team.

The main uncertainty is in the Champions League, where Villarreal still has their fixture against PSG. The forward's participation in that European tie will depend on how his muscle issue develops.

To this concern is added the situation of Juan Foyth, who also did not make the squad to face Espanyol due to muscle discomfort. The Argentine defender is another doubt for the match against the Paris side.
