Brugué worries Levante after being subbed off with niggles

Levante UD are monitoring the physical condition of Roger Brugué after the player had to leave the match this Sunday against Real Sociedad at half-time. The attacker was replaced by Víctor García in the game at Anoeta, which ended with a 2-1 defeat for Levante.

As Luis Castro explained after the match, Brugué was already carrying discomfort before the game and continuing on the pitch could have worsened his physical problems. The coach decided to take him off as a precaution and highlighted the good impact of Víctor García, his replacement on the right wing.

The situation comes at a especially positive moment for Brugué. Last Wednesday he was the main figure in the 3-1 win over Athletic Club, in the postponed match from matchday 6, after scoring two goals in just two minutes.

The winger played 71 minutes in that game and returned to the starting XI four days later against Real Sociedad. However, the accumulated fatigue and the discomfort he was already carrying ultimately led to his sustitution at half-time.

The Copa del Rey, an opportunity to rest

The schedule also leaves little room for recovery for the Granota side. This Wednesday, 28 October, Levante will visit CD Tarancón in the first round of the Copa del Rey, while on Saturday 31 they will host Atlético de Madrid at 14:00 in the Ciutat de València.

With two matches in just four days, it is reasonable to think that Luis Castro could use the cup competition to give Brugué a rest and prevent his niggles from turning into a more serious injury.

For now, there is no confirmation of a serious muscular injury and no layoff period has been set. His progress during this week's training sessions and the decisions of the coaching staff will determine his chances of making the league match.
