Rayo-Athletic takes an unexpected turn: there will be no football this Sunday and the teams change their plans

Uncertainty continues to surround the match between Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Club. After the objects thrown from the stands forced the clash to be definitively suspended, both clubs have reorganized their respective schedules and now know they will not have to return to the pitch this Sunday.

The Bilbao side has not decided to make the trip back home. The Athletic will leave Madrid without playing the minutes that were still pending, following a day in which football took a back seat due to the incidents caused from the stands.

Meanwhile, the Rayo Vallecano will keep up its usual sporting activity. The franjirrojos players have a training session scheduled for this Sunday in Vallecas, ruling out the possibility of completing the match on that date.

The suspension came after several interruptions caused by objects being thrown onto the pitch. At first it was possible to resume the game, but the repetition of the incidents ultimately led to the definitive suspension of the match.

For now, there is no new confirmed date for the resumption of Rayo-Athletic. The relevant governing bodies and the parties involved will have to agree on when the remaining time of the fixture corresponding to the competition's eighth matchday will be played.
