Tarraga and Diakhaby give Aguirre a boost: their return opens a new path with Pepelu

The recovery of defensive personnel could have consequences beyond the back line itself. One of them directly affects Pepelu, who could leave his emergency duties as a center-back and move into a more advanced position.

The defensive scenario has changed in recent weeks. Tarraga suffered an injury to the right hamstring muscles during Sevilla-Valencia, a setback that came at a time when the team already had very few options available in that position.

That situation then forced them to look for solutions outside the usual center-backs. Pepelu, for example, had already played in defense with Corberan against Barcelona due to the personnel problems.

Now Aguirre is starting to have more options. Diakhaby is already working normally, while Tarraga took another step in his recovery this Friday by joining the collective session partially. The coach believes he will be able to count on both for the match of next October 11 against Racing de Santander at El Sardinero.

Pepelu can regain ground in midfield

The presence of more center-backs would allow the Mexican coach to change the distribution of roles. With natural alternatives to complete the defense, Pepelu could return to playing more advanced, without the need to cover a position previously conditioned by injuries.

Diakhaby's absence had already altered the defensive plans, and Tarraga's subsequent injury further reduced the margin for maneuver. Gradually getting both back now offers new possibilities for building Aguirre's first XI.

The coach still has several days to test different formulas before his debut on the Valencia bench. The progress of Cesar Tarraga will be one of the things to watch during the coming training sessions, while Diakhaby continues working with the rest of his teammates.
