Matarazzo clarified the situation after the match against Atletico Madrid. The coach wanted to make it clear that the player could have taken part if the flow of the game had required it.

"Turrientes has had problems with his kneecap. Even so, he is ready to play. If the situation against Atletico had been different, he could have come on if we had needed him", he explained.

The decision by the coaching staff has been prudent. The midfielder had been coming off three consecutive starts against Real Madrid, Espanyol and Celta de Vigo, but afterward he did not play any minutes either against Elche or against Atletico Madrid.

That change in prominence had drawn attention given the weight he was starting to carry in the Real Sociedad midfield. The reason, according to the information available, is physical: discomfort in the knee led them to reduce his involvement to prevent the problem from getting worse.
