The incident happened during the match against the Elche, when Gavi went in for a challenge on an opponent and the action was ultimately ruled as a foul by the midfielder. Although the team secured an important victory, the substitution before halftime put part of the win in the background.

Gavi's message after the scare

The player himself also wanted to ease concerns with a post on social media. He did not specify the exact extent of the blow, but he did leave a message of calm for those who were keeping an eye on his condition: «Thanks to those who are always with me and supporting me and who go with me to the end. I don't understand football any other way. I'm sorry for making you suffer so much».

His recovery will now determine the next steps. The club expects his return will be brief, although it still remains to be confirmed whether Gavi will be available for the next match against Athletic.
