Raíllo rushes options to return in Mallorca’s final against Levante

Yesterday, Última Hora de Mallorca reported that at Son Moix they still do not dare to completely rule out Antonio Raíllo for the key match against Levante, a game in which Real Mallorca is fighting to remain in the First Division. Although the Andalusian center-back did not train this Thursday, in the team’s return after the defeat against Getafe, there remains a small hope within the club that he might arrive in time and at least be included in the squad.

Raíllo was operated on just over 40 days ago due to an injury to the ligaments in his left ankle. Initially, everything indicated he would miss the rest of the season, as the doctors were quite clear about the timelines. However, Mallorca’s delicate situation, currently in the relegation zone, means no one wants to close the door on a possible return of the captain.

That said, the club is aware that it would be risky to bring his comeback forward. The idea would be for him to test himself before the match and, if he responds well, travel with the team to Valencia. He might even get some minutes, although it seems unlikely he will be in optimum condition.

In fact, Raíllo himself hinted a few days ago that he was not completely ruling out returning before the season ends. Ahead of the match against Villarreal on May 10, he said he was pushing to try to be available for the last two rounds: “My goal is to try to be in the last two matches. It’s a bit forced, otherwise it will be for next season. I am in the final stretch of recovery,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Demichelis continues to monitor the center-back’s progress as well as working to recover other important players. With Omar Mascarell suspended, everything points to David López accompanying Valjent in central defense against Levante.

Mallorca is fighting for its life and any help can be decisive. That is why, even if Raíllo is not at one hundred percent, his presence could be an important boost for the team. Beyond footballing matters, his experience, leadership and character can make the difference in a fixture that could determine the club’s future.

When it comes to signing to speculate or to score points, he is not a viable option and we do not recommend betting on him.
