The injury occurred in early June, during a friendly between Morocco and Norway. Abde suffered a mid-grade sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee, a problem that kept him out of competition and prevented him from playing in the World Cup.

At Betis, there was the possibility that he could make it in time to face Real Sociedad, especially after his latest progress in training. Pellegrini, however, put an end to the doubt and confirmed that the Moroccan international will not be part of the squad.

The green-and-white club has opted for caution with one of its most important attacking resources and will wait for the player to complete his return to fitness before coming back to the pitch.
