Real Betis already has a new striker. Troy Parrott arrives from AZ Alkmaar in a deal close to 20 million euros including add-ons, becoming one of the club's big bets to strengthen the attack. The Irishman beat out other candidates who were on the verdiblanco agenda and arrives with the mission of providing the goal the team needed.

A striker different from the typical '9'

Parrott is not the classic static center-forward. He is a mobile, physical and hard-working attacker who likes to combine, drop to the flanks and take part in the build-up. His main strength is making the most of space and making diagonal runs, although he does not particularly stand out for his ability to beat defenders one-on-one. He is also a very intense striker who is difficult to defend. He does not give up on a ball, uses his physical strength well and constantly battles the center-backs.

Goals, his biggest virtue

The main reason for his signing is his goalscoring ability. Parrott comes off a standout spell in the Eredivisie with AZ, showing impressive finishing in front of goal thanks to those 31 goals and 12 assists he provided last campaign. He is a forward who does not need a huge volume of chances to score and who particularly thrives inside the box. If he can bring that effectiveness to LaLiga, Betis may have found the 'killer' they were looking for.

A profile that could fit with Pellegrini

Betis' style of play could suit his characteristics. Parrott needs to be active and feel involved in the attack, especially when the team manages to play in the opponent's half and create spaces. With Antony, Abde, Isco, Fornals or Lo Celso around him, he will have players capable of finding him between the lines, playing his runs and making the most of his mobility. In terms of role, he looks like a profile that could fit well into Pellegrini's system.

In fantasy terms: competition for the Cucho

Parrott's arrival brings direct competition with Cucho Hernández for the starting striker spot. The Colombian has the advantage of knowing LaLiga and Pellegrini's system, but the significant investment made by Betis suggests that Parrott will have plenty of opportunities. For managers, the Irishman is an interesting bet, though with some initial risk. We'll have to wait to see how Pellegrini manages his minutes and who ends up taking the '9' role.

Be patient with Parrott! The jump from the Eredivisie to LaLiga will be important, and it would not be surprising if Parrott needed a period of adaptation. That's why patience will be key during his first few matches. If he adapts quickly and keeps his goalscoring numbers, he could become one of Betis' most interesting forwards in fantasy terms and a crucial piece for the verdiblanco attack.
