Gattoni leaves Sevilla for Ascoli as part of a deep clean-out. Azpilicueta, Nyland, Mendy, Gudelj, Nianzou, Akor, Juanlu, Sow and Jordán also departed.

Sevilla FC

Federico Gattoni is the latest name to leave Sevilla. The Nervion club has agreed with Ascoli the transfer of the Argentine centre-back, who signs with the Italian side until June 30, 2027.

The deal fits in with the major overhaul that Sevilla is carrying out in this transfer window. The list of departures is already extensive and affects every line of the squad. César Azpilicueta, Orjan Nyland, Adnan Januzaj, Nemanja Gudelj and Alexis Sánchez, Tanguy Nianzou, Akor Adams, Juanlu, Djibril Sow, Batista Mendy, Rafa Mir, Neal Maupay, Joan Jordán.

Some of those who have left, have done an acceptable job and that is why they have left millions behind with their exits, but some on the list, known by every Sevilla fan, is a kind of miracle, like yesterday's eclipse, where the stars align and you see something incredible once every many years.

Now comes the departure of Gattoni. The Argentine defender arrived at Nervión in 2023 from San Lorenzo, but never managed to earn a place. He only played four official matches for the first team, two in LaLiga and two in the Copa del Rey, scoring once. After that, he was loaned out by Anderlecht and River Plate. Last season he barely featured for nine minutes against Alavés, and this summer he began pre-season working away from the group while looking for a way out.

The Ascoli, newly promoted to the Italian Serie B, will be his next destination. Gattoni had a contract with Sevilla until June 2027, but he now leaves the club as part of a clean-out operation that is changing Luis García Plaza's squad completely.

To the departures, we have to add the arrivals: Juan Iglesias, Jon Guridi, Arouna Sangante, Julio Díaz, Fran González, Robbie Ure.

Sevilla have brought in close to 35 million euros from the sales of Akor Adams, Juanlu and Sow and, at the same time, have managed to offload several high-value contracts. José Ignacio Navarro continues working on departures as he tries to complete a team that still has shortcomings, especially in the midfield. Between exits and arrivals, there are already 20 players, and I have a question: does this man not deserve a monument under the mosaic?
