Barcelona raises its offer for Rodri and moves closer to Man City's price
The FC Barcelona keeps negotiations open for Rodri and has made a move with a second offer. The Blaugrana club is trying to get closer to the Manchester City's economic terms to unlock a deal that has also kept Real Madrid waiting.

After the first rejection, the club chaired by Joan Laporta would have significantly improved its proposal for the Spanish midfielder. The operation, according to information published in England, is still ongoing and neither of the parties wants to drag out the talks any longer than necessary.
The first attempt by the Barcelona did not convince City. The English club rejected the 45 million euros that the Catalans put on the table for the former Ballon d'Or winner, a figure that fell well short of the demands set out from Manchester.
In England, Rodri's asking price had already been set at around the 70 million pounds. With that scenario, the initial offer had little chance of succeeding, although contact between the clubs was not broken.
New proposal on the table
The second Blaugrana move raises the figure to 65 million euros fixed, plus another 5 million in add-ons. This is a major financial effort from Barcelona, although it still sits slightly below the amount Manchester City is asking for.
Now, the negotiation is pending the response from the English club. In the deal's circles, it is expected that City could be willing to ease its demands to make it easier to reach an agreement that Barcelona believes it can close.
The Blaugrana optimism is also backed by the agreement reached with Rodri regarding his personal terms. The player, always according to this information, wants to sign for Barcelona and would have told the Catalan club that it is his preferred destination despite Real Madrid's interest.
The Culé side believes the negotiation is moving in the right direction. Any additional income that could come from, in part, the loan of Ronald Araujo to Liverpool could also help sustain this second push for the midfielder.
