The future of Jorge Salinas is once again at the heart of the transfer market. According to El Nacional, representatives of the player held a meeting in Santander in which the FC Barcelona are said to have reaffirmed their intention to try to sign the young left-back. Meanwhile, the Racing continues to point to the 16 million euro release clause and does not consider making it easier for one of its biggest promises to leave.

Real Racing Club Santander

Jorge Salinas continues to be one of the most sought-after players in the Racing de Santander. After putting together a brilliant season and confirming his huge potential with the Spain Under-19 squad, the young defender is still attracting interest from several of the continent's biggest clubs.
In recent hours, El Nacional has reported that the FC Barcelona have taken another step in their pursuit of the player after holding a meeting with the agents of the player in Santander. According to that information, the meeting was used to confirm that the Blaugrana side still see Salinas as one of their future priorities.

The versatile defender, who can play both as a left-back and as a centre-back, fits the profile the Blaugrana sporting department is looking for: youth, physical ability, ball-playing and a huge margin for growth.

Racing does not lower its demands

While interest from top clubs continues to grow, the Racing stance remains unchanged.
With promotion to La Liga, the release clause for Jorge Salinas was set at 16 million euros, a figure that the Cantabrian club considers non-negotiable. From the club's perspective, losing one of the biggest talents to emerge in recent years would only make sense if an offer arrives that reaches that amount.

The player's return to training shows the normality with which the Racing are dealing with the situation. The player continues preparing for the season under the orders of José Alberto as the transfer window moves on.

Barcelona studies different options

Always according to the aforementioned report, Barcelona would have no intention of paying the release clause in full.
The Catalan club would be looking at different alternatives to reduce the cost of the deal, including adding performance-related variables, holding back a percentage of a future sale, or even negotiating the loan of another player. Another possibility would be to complete the signing this summer and allow Salinas to continue one more season in Santander to keep accumulating minutes in La Liga.

In Santander, meanwhile, the message remains the same: the Racing are not in a hurry to sell and will only consider a departure if the economic conditions reach the value the club considers fair for one of the great gems of its academy.
