The transfer of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid is pending a formality that does not depend on the sporting or economic agreement between the clubs. A claim filed with FIFA by his former representatives has stalled the official announcement and could force the club to seek a provisional license for the player.

The case pits Maxidel Management, the company of Max Gradel, against Roc Nation, the multinational linked to Jay-Z that currently handles the affairs of the Ivorian attacker. Maxidel has gone to FIFA over an alleged breach of contract, arguing that the Real Madrid negotiated with Roc Nation despite the fact that they were involved in the player's previous move, when he went from Leganes to Leipzig.

The situation has surprised the Whites, who believe the dispute is outside their actions and trust that the matter will end up being resolved in their favor. In the meantime, the file keeps the official announcement of an operation blocked that, in essence, is already practically ready: the amounts agreed with the German club, the payment structure, the documentation, and the player's own contract.

FIFA is studying the representation dispute

The international body has received the complaint and is now assessing whether the dispute between agencies affects the registration of the signing. FIFA regulations on agents and representation companies are strict and can have an impact on the International Transfer Certificate, the ITC, an essential document in international deals.

In cases with open conflicts over representation rights, the FIFA has the power to delay the entry of a signing into its system and even block it in extreme cases. Clubs also have an interest in ensuring the commission is clear, since paying the wrong intermediary can lead to sanctions.

The possible middle-ground solution would involve granting Diomande a provisional license while the claim related to an economic part of the deal is resolved. Although FIFA can act on the administrative process, it usually takes into account labor law and the player's right to work or compete with his new club, even if later economic claims for damages may be opened.

The clash stems from the change in the winger's representation. Maxidel was the agency that handled his move to Leipzig and still keeps the image of the contract signing with the German club visible on its Instagram profile, alongside Jean Martial Lopoh, the company's lead agent. Leipzig itself has dealt with this firm and granted it permission to negotiate for the right-footed young attacker.

Diomande, however, decided a few months ago to make the switch to Roc Nation, a heavyweight structure with international clout and a strong presence in Brazil through Frederico Pena, a representative linked to the careers of Vinicius and Endrick. With Roc Nation , the Real Madrid has negotiated, and it is now waiting for a quick resolution to the standoff between agents. Diomande is also still in Leipzig, with his sights set on returning to the Spanish capital as soon as possible and being presented by Real Madrid.
