Rayo Vallecano's options to replace Pep Chavarría
The departure of Pacha Espino and the near-complete transfer of Pep Chavarría to Chelsea for 25 million euros have left the left flank as an area that needs strengthening before the transfer window closes. Sporting management is working with several names on the table to cover a position that has lost personnel in recent weeks.
Rayo Vallecano
In that search, Javi López has moved into a prominent position. Information from Ángel García points to the player as one of the targets being considered by Rayo Vallecano for a role that needs an addition capable of competing from the start in LaLiga.
The full-back is under contract with Real Sociedad and last season he played for Real Oviedo. His profile convinces within the club, which is looking for a player ready to take on minutes in a position that currently has few alternatives.
Álex Moreno remains among the options
The emergence of Javi López does not rule out Álex Moreno from the plans. The name of the former franjirrojo player has been in Vallecas for weeks and continues to be considered one of the preferred possibilities to strengthen the left-back spot.
His return will depend on the economic conditions of the deal and on how his situation develops with his current club. In the meantime, Rayo keeps the door open without ruling out other scenarios.
Adrià Pedrosa is also on the list. The Sevilla player is seen as an alternative if the moves for Javi López or Álex Moreno do not quite progress. According to Ángel García, the three full-backs are part of the group of candidates the club is considering for one of the most needed positions in Beñat San José's squad.
