Gerard Martín has become one of the standout names in the transfer market. The Barcelona full-back has attracted interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, and the Milan is ready to step forward to try to complete his signing.

As Milan.news.it reports, the Italian club is preparing an important improvement to its offer. The initial bid, set at 20 million euros, could rise to as much as the 35 million, which would be the current value of this player, according to Transfermarkt, with the aim of convincing the Barça and moving ahead of other suitors.

The Chelsea side is also keeping a close watch on the progress of the blue-and-red defender. The London club has Gerard Martín among its options to strengthen the left-back position, which could spark a battle between two European football heavyweights.

The Milan continues to shape its squad during the pre-season, and the team coached by Massimiliano Allegri drew 2-2 against Celtic in their first friendly of the summer, a match that offered both positives and negatives. Beyond the result, the game once again highlighted the need to reinforce the defence. Precisely for that reason, the name of Gerard Martín has gained momentum in the offices of San Siro, where they believe the player can add competition and provide a present-day option for a position they want to improve before the start of the season.

Gerard Martín stands out for his good build-up play, his tactical intelligence and his ability to adapt to different defensive positions. He is not particularly notable for his pace, but rather for his positioning, the aerial game and reliability in defence. At Barcelona, he has gained prominence as left centre-back in a back four, where his left-footed profile helps with building from the back.

For now, there is no agreement between the parties and Barcelona retains control over the player’s future. The growing interest from Milan and Chelsea suggests that Gerard Martín could be at the centre of one of the most notable moves of the coming weeks.
