The future of Raúl Asencio could take a turn before the transfer window closes. The Olympique de Marseille has presented Real Madrid with a proposal to bring in the 23-year-old centre-back via a one-season loan that would include an obligatory purchase of 15 million euros if the player meets a set of sporting objectives.

The deal also includes that the French club will cover the defender's full salary during the loan period. In addition, the white club would reserve 25% of a future sale, a clause with which it aims to keep benefiting from a possible increase in the player's value in the coming years.

The conditions that would trigger the final purchase are still to be negotiated. The number of matches, minutes played, or the amount of starts will be some of the factors that both sides will need to agree on before closing any move.

Asencio does not want to leave

Asencio's intention remains to continue at the Real Madrid and the centre-back wants to convince the coaching staff during pre-season and fight for a place in a defence that will once again have very high competition.

His situation will depend largely on the white club's sporting planning. A departure would free up a squad spot and reduce the accumulation of centre-backs, while the player would have the chance to enjoy regular playing time in a team that will take part in European competitions.

Asencio renewed his contract with Real Madrid in 2025 until June 2031 and his market value currently stands at around 20 million euros. Marseille's proposal is below that figure, although the percentage of a future sale partly offsets that difference and keeps open the possibility of earning higher income if the player increases his stock.

Last season he played 1,706 minutes with the first team, scored two goals and alternated starts with appearances off the bench. Now, the Real Madrid will have to decide whether to back his continuity or whether it believes the French offer fits within its strategy for this transfer window.
