Deportivo on the verge of making its third signing

The move comes in the middle of a full market revival for the sporting world, right as pre-season work gets underway. After several weeks without any news, the sporting directorate is stepping up efforts to complete a squad that could still see further changes.

The Herculian club is on the verge of agreeing the permanent transfer of Bright Ede, a centre-back who had attracted interest from major European football teams. Manchester United and Chelsea, among other Premier League clubs, had been following him before the player opted for Deportivo's proposal.

Ede played 11 matches with Motor Lublin this season in Poland's top division. He is also part of Poland's international pathway at youth levels, with his most recent call-up coming with the Under-19 squad.

Depor's back line, pending further moves

The arrival of the Polish centre-back opens up a scenario with several decisions to be made at the back. Arnau Comas has been called up by Antonio Hidalgo for pre-season, although his future at Deportivo is not guaranteed.

Dani Barcia faces a different situation. The academy product will have room during the summer to convince the coaching staff and try to earn a place in the First Division squad if he delivers in the coming weeks of training.

Right now, the list of centre-backs points to a high level of competition. Along with Ede, Barcia and Arnau Comas, Loureiro and Lucas Noubi are also in the mix, with the latter on the radar of the Atlético and several Premier League clubs.

Samu Fernández has also been called up for pre-season. The academy player made his debut last season in Segunda with Deportivo's first team.
